VUI.agency Sustainability Almada Mata Atlantica reforestation

Project

Almada Mata Atlântica

About eleven times the area of Berlin, that is how much of the Amazon Rainforest was destroyed last year – that is more than in any of the last ten years.

If we are unable to stop and reverse this catastrophic development the rainforest will likely be unable to produce enough rain to sustain itself in less than twenty years’ time.

With this project, we want to help support the current reforestation effort with a tree sponsorship of 30 trees which secures the reforestation area in the long term through maintenance, species protection projects and the purchase of land for the preservation of the Mata Atlântica.

VUI.agency Sustainability Plan International

Project

Plan international

Help children around the world by donating a meaningful gift

Plan International is one of the oldest independent development cooperation and humanitarian aid organizations in the world.

With more than 80 years of history, active in more than 50 countries from Africa, Asia, and Latin America, they consider that children should have the same rights and opportunities worldwide and actively shape their future.

To achieve this, they implement sustainable community development projects in partner countries and respond quickly to emergencies and disasters that threaten children's lives.

This year you can choose to offer meaningful gifts through the organization, such as chickens for a chicken farm, goats for a goat farm, school backpacks and books, menstrual hygiene sets, bee keeping for Zambia and many other meaningful options.

VUI.agency Sustainability Asante Tanzania – Tanzanian day clinic – Gabriele und Ulrich Winkler

Project

Asante Tanzania

In Germany, a single doctor is responsible for the medical care of 260 patients. A doctor in Tanzania has to care for more than 33,000 people, on average.

Two doctors from Germany decided to put all their heart and soul into a day clinic in north-western Tanzania which was founded back in 2008. They built up a facility that works very well by African standards and widely appreciated by the population.

It can be considered a place where many people experience proper professional medical care for the very first time. In order to help people in the long term, Gabriele and Ulrich invest in training medical and nursing staff as well as purchasing medical equipment and other necessities. Our donation ensures the further development of the Tanzanian day clinic.

VUI.agency Sustainability The Asian Classics Input Project

Project

The Asian Classics Input Project

Saving and making ancient wisdom available online for free

“The Asian Classics Input Project (ACIP) aims to find philosophical, religious and cultural manuscripts in Sanskrit, Tibetan, and other languages, transcribe them, scan them, catalog them, and put them online free of charge. Some of this wisdom is over 2.500 years old and contains the cultural heritage of the great cultures of the East.”

Some books are carved on wooden blocks, written on palm leaves or birch-bark paper, or simply lie unsorted and unused in monasteries, libraries, or private collections, due to lack of funds. Their team is aiming to be highly sustainable, constantly training their local employees in restauration skills, but the documents could be easily damaged forever due to improper storage, mold, rot, or insect if they are not saved by this organization.

They have already setup a database that continues to grow and after preservation, they will translate the texts into: English, German, Spanish, Russian and Chinese.

VUI.agency Sustainability Nying Drod Tibet access to free education

Project

Nying Drod

In order to get access to free education, many Tibetan children are smuggled across the Himalayas to a reception camp in northern India to attend the exile school there.

Returning to their homes is usually not an option due to sparse employment opportunities. Eventually, these students have to decide between their own education or being close to their families with proper access to food.

Sending their children to a local school would amount to an annual fee of 135 EUR per child – too much for most Tibetan families. With our donations to Nying Drod (“warm heart”), we try to ensure the education of Tibetan 9 children and secure a lasting way out of poverty for them and their families.

VUI.agency Sustainability Malaria Consortium

Project

Malaria Consortium

All over the word, malaria, an infectious but treatable and preventable disease, threatens 3.2 billion people’s lives.

On top of that, other conditions and tropical diseases, such as pneumonia, diarrhea, dengue, malnutrition, force people into a daily battle for survival.

Our donation to Malaria Consortium will help improve the health condition of millions of vulnerable people by giving them financial access to preventive and diagnostic measures and treatment for some of the world’s most devastating diseases.

VUI.agency Sustainability diversity München – queers Munich

Project

diversity München

diversity is the only LGBT youth centre in Bavaria and one of the few self-managed youth centres in Germany.

For many young lesbians, gays, bisexuals and trans people, it is the first point of contact and an important place to find support, meet friends and just express their inner self.

Despite recent progress in society, empowerment is still enormously important for young LGBT to be able to stand up for themselves with self-confidence. With our donation, we support a diverse range of LGBT*-focused services for young people in Germany.

VUI.agency Sustainability ReDI School of Digital Integration – IT industry access for refugees

Project

ReDI School of Digital Integration

In 2020, a total of roughly 124,000 IT specialist jobs might be unfilled. We can change that.

ReDI School of Digital Integration is a non-profit tech school that is trying to solve this problem by creating IT industry access for refugees and offering them free high-quality coding classes.

Since the opening of the first ReDI School in Berlin in February 2016, more than 3,000 students from over forty nations have been trained specifically for the German job market.

After two years of coding classes for newcomers, it was noted that only ten per cent of all participants were women. To change this, ReDI School has initiated a pilot project to help refugee women in particular develop digital skills and network, and to promote self-employment. With our donation, we were able to secure 3 future employment opportunities.
